Gala Premier - Voces de Mujer

<Tomorrow night, Wednesday March 7th, in Caribbean Cinemas of San Patricio Plaza, Studio 51 and the Puerto Rico Film Commission will premiere the results of the "Reto Cinematográfico - Voces de Mujer". The premiere will take place at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail sponsored by Triple-S. This event celebrates "La Semana de la Mujer", which I guess is this week. Do they sell a calendar someplace with all of these days and weeks accurately identified? It could be useful to keep it all straight.

The Women's Voices debut is actually a collection of ten (10) short films each of ten (10) minutes length written and directed by women, that were recently chosen as winners of the film making challenge. The challenge was organized and conducted by Studio 51, a Puerto Rican non-profit organization that offers short and long term resources to promote the creativity and viability of film projects. The works selected attempt to answer the question: "¿Cómo es la mujer actual y cuáles son sus valores?". Literally, "What is an actual woman and what are her values?"

The short films selected were (in alphabetical order):

• Atácala que ella cae…
• Desde el otro lado
• Eterno Amor
• Imposición de Manos
• La duda
• La mecedora
• La noche de los calzoncillos mojados
• La Verónica
• ¿Quién eres tú?

Congratulations to all of the winners and congratulations to women in their week. It is a great thing that they have their week and day, because, as everyone knows, the other 355 days and 51 weeks are for men. I jest of course, although my joke would be funnier if it weren't true. Here's hoping that Hillary changes that next year.
