NPR Covers Exodus From Puerto RIco

In this radio podcast, National Public Radio examines the increasing number of residents from Puerto Rico -– particularly those with middle class and professional backgrounds— that are looking for work in Florida following an economic slowdown in Puerto Rico. In the podcast there are interviews with Miami Herald reporter Frances Robles, who has been writing about the issue, and marketing professional Xavier Vilaro, who recently left Puerto Rico and is looking for work in Florida.

Here is my favorite point in the interview, when they begin discussing what, if anything, the Puerto Rican government is doing to incent executives from leaving the island, the reporter says that she tried to contact someone in the government but they wouldn't return her calls. Oh my God, what is that? It's a giant ostrich! Oh now you've done spooked it and it's stuck its head in the sand.
